2025 SUCCESS STORIES
From Streets to Stability
The Shelter Alliance helped Linda and John secure affordable housing, access disability support, connect with mental health services, and begin rebuilding their lives in stability and hope.
“I was homeless for over five years. I didn’t even realize how bad it was until I left the street. I slept on a bench in the snow for numerous years. I live in an apartment now that I am on disability. I am learning to cook, make friends, and lead a normal life. My health is improving and I am looking forward to what tomorrow brings for the first time that I can remember. I feel blessed beyond my imagination.”
Reunited Under One Roof
Through financial counseling and coordinated housing support, The Shelter Alliance connected this family with a local landlord, assisted with application fees, and helped them secure permanent housing. Today they are reunited and thriving.
“In 2021 we lost the place we were staying and had nowhere to go. We were living in a local motel with our three children ages 10, 7, and 3. Our 16-year-old stayed with a friend so she could attend school. We’re both working but the motel bill alone took half of our income. Having our own place means so much. Our family can finally be together again in a real home.”
A Journey from Crisis to Confidence
When Mrs. T, a 51-year-old mother of two, lost her job and housing, she turned to The Shelter Alliance for help.
Our team provided immediate emergency shelter and paired her with a case manager to navigate rental applications, address overdue bills, and rebuild her credit.
With support from community partners, Mrs. T secured a safe apartment, began budgeting classes, and now volunteers teaching healthy, affordable cooking to other women transitioning from homelessness.
Her story is a testament to what is possible when compassion and community meet practical support, moving from survival to self-sufficiency.
